It’s safe to say that 2020 has been unforgettable.
When we look back on it, we will all certainly remember the bad things. At only the half-year mark, we’re immersed in an ongoing global pandemic that continues to disrupt every facet of our day-to-day lives, from having kids home from school to an impending recession. At SKV Legal, we have felt these difficulties very personally. However, challenging times are also opportunities to thrive. So, while it is easy to remember the bad, we want to take a minute to highlight some of the good.
COVID-19 has pushed us to explore new options. Law firms, especially in the energy sector, have certainly been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and the related economic fallout. In fact, that is a big factor in why we at SKV Legal are practicing Estate Planning, Guardianship, and Probate. We all have backgrounds in energy law, particularly oil and gas. When that area was hit by the recession, we decided to put those practices on the backburner and focus on these other areas of law that have always been our passions. In an unexpected way, COVID-19 has allowed us to chase our dreams.
COVID-19 has changed the way the world does business, allowing us to contact clients in new ways. Because it is unsafe to meet face to face, the world is now gathering virtually. Thanks to technology like Zoom, Teams, and FaceTime, friends, family, coworkers, patients, and clients are all able to communicate via screens. In many instances, this form of communication is quicker and more efficient, enabling us to talk no matter how far apart we are. For SKV Legal, this means that we can reach clients located anywhere in Utah and other states without incurring any additional expense in either time or money.
COVID-19 is an opportunity for unity. Because the Coronavirus is affecting literally everyone in some way or another, this time has the potential to bring us together by supporting one another. No one’s life is the same as it was in January. We are all going through this trial at the same time, if not in the same way.
